North Herts Council is inviting residents to have their say in the design of the King George V Skatepark in Hitchin.

A design workshop will take place on Thursday 27 February, from 6pm to 8pm, at the Rugby Club on Old Hale Way, giving the community a chance to shape the future of this much-anticipated facility.

Residents who cannot attend in person can still provide their feedback by scanning the QR code on the event poster or visiting: https://canvasspaces.co.uk/kgvskateparknorthherts

Councillor Mick Debenham, Executive Member for Leisure and Environment at North Herts Council, said: "We're excited to be working with local skaters, BMX riders, and the wider community to design a skatepark that meets their needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to get involved in creating a space that will be well-used and enjoyed for years to come. Whether you're a skater or just interested in the project, we encourage you to share your views."

The new skatepark will be designed with input from local users to ensure it offers a modern and inclusive environment for all abilities.

Landscape Architect at Groundwork East, Catherine Browne, who is responsible for the community consultation up to this point and commissioning the Skatepark contractors, said "We are looking forward to progressing this project to its final stage, it's been many years in the making, and with your involvement the skatepark will be designed to serve the skaters of Hitchin for years to come. Canvas, the contractor, will also be holding post completion events to build up the women and girls skating community, to inspire confidence and ownership of the park!"
