More than 2,300 people downloaded North Herts Council's new mobile app within the first 24 hours of its launch — with over 2,100 residents already opting to receive tailored bin collection reminders.
The free app, which was launched last week, helps residents across Hitchin and the wider district keep on top of the new three-weekly waste collection cycle by sending personalised notifications directly to their phone.
A council update said that while the app has made a strong start, some early users may experience minor issues as the system beds in - explaining - "we're still in the early days of the rollout, so there may be isolated instances where collection data doesn't pull through accurately. If any residents encounter a problem, please contact our Customer Services team with your full address and a contact email so we can resolve it quickly."
The council plans to continue promoting the app in the run-up to Christmas, when collection days will change due to the festive schedule.
Residents can download the app for free from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store by searching North Herts Council.
