A man charged with the murder of 18-year-old Kajetan Migdal from Stevenage has pleaded not guilty, a court heard.

Patrick Sharp, 18, of Cuttys Lane in Stevenage, made his plea via video link from Bedford prison to Luton Crown Court yesterday, after being charged earlier this year. He pleaded guilty to charges of possessing a blade and possessing cocaine.

Kajetan was making his way home from his Year 13 prom on May 27 when he received stab injuries on Cuttys Lane. He had been a student at the Saint John Henry Newman Catholic School on Hitchin Road.

After his death Kajetan's family said: 'Kajetan was a loving, joy-filled young man with a bright future.

'He was known for his love of dance, animals, hard work and caring friendships. As a high achiever academically and in his hobbies, he was set for big things. He had just finished school and had his life to look forward to.

'The entire family is devastated at the loss of a much-loved family member, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.'

A trial expected to last two to three weeks has been set for February 20 next year at Luton Crown Court
