A empty unit in Hitchin town centre that last played host to a restaurant more than two years ago is set be a haven for meat-lovers.

Craft and Cleaver is set to take over the Grade II-listed building that was formerly home to Prezzo on Bancroft.

The news comes after a planning application has been submitted with North Herts Council to allow the American style barbecue restaurant to serve Hitchin meat-lovers.

The unit has stood empty since 2021 when Prezzo shut for good in Hitchin - but Craft and Cleaver owner Adam Richardson has submitted a request to makes changes on the site.

According to plans, 'internal refurbishments' are intended, including the removal of a pizza oven, installation of partition to create an additional food preparation area and barrel store cellar, as well as alterations to the bar area.

Craft and Cleaver has also applied to the council for a premises licence to serve alcohol every day from 11am to at least 1130pm.

Below is a taste of what Craft and Cleaver's menu offers, including a range of burgers, barbecues and skillets
