By James Denselow 9th Apr 2026
Police are appealing for help from the public after a distinctive van was stolen from a layby near Offley, close to Hitchin.
The theft is believed to have taken place on Offley Hill between 5pm on Sunday 29 March and 8.30am on Monday 30 March.
Officers say the vehicle is a white Suzuki Carry van, registration WN05 MHF, and is particularly recognisable due to a solar panel fitted to its roof.
PC Izabela Nowosinska, who is leading the investigation, said: "As the van is quite distinctive, we are hoping someone may have seen it since it was stolen. Anyone with any information is welcome to contact me direct."
Residents in Hitchin and surrounding villages are being urged to keep an eye out for the vehicle and report any sightings.
Anyone with information can email PC Nowosinska at [email protected], report details online, use the police web chat, or call the non-emergency number 101 quoting 41/29124/26.
Alternatively, people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via its online form.
