Arrest made in connection with robbery in Stevenage

A man has been arrested by police in connection with a knifepoint robbery in Stevenage.

The incident occurred in Bedwell Crescent, at just before 650am on Thursday, December 14.

It is alleged that a member of staff at McColl's newsagents was threatened into handing over cash.

An investigation was launched by the Stevenage Local Crime Unit and a 44-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, December 21. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Darren Lomax, from the Stevenage Local Crime Unit, said: "Although an arrest has now been made our enquiries are ongoing, and I am continuing to appeal for anyone with information to please get in touch.

"If you live nearby and have CCTV or a doorbell camera fitted, please check any footage recorded just before or after the incident, to see if it has captured a male going past.

"If you have any other information at all, please get in touch."
