A popular pub near Hitchin has been busy gearing up to reopen next month as lockdown eases.

The Fox at Willian, along with hospitality venues across Hitchin, north Herts - and the rest of the UK - is currently closed as part of the national lockdown.

However, light is at the end of the tunnel because restaurants and pub gardens will be allowed to serve customers sitting outdoors - including alcohol - from Monday, April 12.

From that date, customers will be able to meet in groups of up to six people from different households, and a maximum of two households can meet to form a group of any size.

Posting on their official Instagram account the Fox, in the beautiful village of Willian, near Hitchin, said: "A year ago we had to close our doors at the request of the government. What a year it has been.

"We have been working so hard behind the scenes to be ready to come back stronger than ever.

"From April 12 we will be back seven days a week and can't wait to reveal our new Fox garden, complete with lounge area, covered seating and heaters.

"Fingers crossed we are in for warm weather, but we have you covered either way."
