A popular sci-fi novel by a successful Hitchin author is now set to become a comic.

The sci-fi novel Complete Darkness by Hitchin's Matt Adcock which topped sales charts and was chosen as one of the 'top books of year' by UK site: Den of Geek is now to become a comic.

The dark near future story was developed into a comic format during the lockdown with artwork by Northern Irish artist Karl Brown.

Matt explained: "Finding a publisher for Complete Darkness has been incredible and it's been selling well for the last two years.

"But as a comic book fan I'm beyond delighted to have the chance to now launch it in that format too.

"Comics are an art form that are becoming more appreciated by the mainstream, with many of them becoming Netflix / Amazon series too.

"FantasyCon was a great place to get feedback which was really positive - so I'm hoping people will back the kickstarter so that the series can continue."

The pilot printrun sold out when taken to FantasyCon, the annual sci-fi gala event hosted by the British Fantasy Society, and now it is avaible to be back via kickstarter so all fans of science fiction can get copies.

Local artist Katie Hounsome who is famed for her Hitchin art prints created a mock advert of a future product from the book as a full page piece.

An art card of her work is one of the many benefits people can choose from including t-shirts, snood bandanas and even the chance to have yourself immortalised by being drawn in to issue two as a cameo character.
