A popular village pub just outside Hitchin has reopened its doors following a six-figure makeover.

The Green Man, a Chef & Brewer pub in Great Offley, officially welcomed customers back on Friday, 17 July after an extensive refurbishment designed to modernise the venue while preserving its traditional character.

Located on the village High Street, the renovation has transformed the pub's interior with new décor, upgraded flooring and comfortable furniture, while the conservatory has also been refreshed to create a brighter dining space for customers.

Outside, the Green Man's well-known beer garden – which overlooks the Hertfordshire countryside – has also been upgraded with new garden furniture, festoon lighting and improvements to the pergola dining area, alongside the existing outdoor bar.

The pub continues to serve its range of traditional pub favourites, Sunday roasts, seasonal dishes and salads, alongside cask ales, wines, cocktails and soft drinks.

To mark the reopening, local councillor David Barnard officially cut the ribbon, while the pub also made a donation to Offley Cricket Club as part of its commitment to supporting local community organisations.

John Davis, general manager at the Green Man, said: "Welcome back to the new and improved Green Man! We are thrilled to be open again following a major renovation, in perfect time for the summer season.

"We know just how much this pub means to the local community and we're hugely proud to be able to offer something for everyone, whether you're looking for a place to pitch up after a countryside walk, celebrating a special occasion with loved ones or simply seeking a spot to enjoy a midweek meal out.

"With a refreshed look and feel, cosy dining spaces and a premium food and drinks offering, we're ready to welcome both our lovely regulars and new customers to experience the Green Man's fantastic hospitality."

Customers can also order food and drinks directly to their table, both indoors and outside, using the Greene King app.

The reopening comes in time for the busy summer season, with the refurbished beer garden expected to be a popular destination for walkers, families and visitors exploring the countryside around Great Offley.
