“Racist & abusive language” mar Hitchin victory

Hitchin Town FC have launched an investigation following reports of racist and abusive language directed at players during last Saturday's match at Top Field (27th September)
In a strongly worded statement, the club said this type of behaviour was "totally out of character with the environment we have all worked hard to create at Hitchin Town FC" and added they were "hugely disappointed by these reports."
The club is appealing for anyone with information to come forward and contact them via [email protected].
Officials also made it clear that anyone using abusive language at Top Field, or when visiting other clubs, will face a ban. The club warned that such behaviour could also lead to fines and other sanctions from the FA.
One supporter who attended the match told Hitchin Nub News:
"We weren't close to it but there were some fans behind the goal giving their keeper some abuse. They stopped the game half way through the second half and at least one fan was escorted out of the ground".
"At the final whistle the keeper then had an altercation with some of the fans and all the players got involved. The keeper was then dragged down the tunnel, which we were next to. He was properly angry and sounds like he has every reason to be."
The club stressed that racist and abusive behaviour has no place at Top Field, and reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for players, staff, and supporters alike.
