The annual Hitchin 10km proved a huge success over the Bank Holiday weekend, with organisers confirming a record number of entries for this year's event.
Race organiser Jake Amos said more than 1,440 adults and children took part across the different races, making it the biggest event to date.
He praised the growing community support around the race, which has become a popular fixture in the Hitchin calendar.
Jake said: "The Hitchin 10km over the Bank Holiday weekend was a massive success.
"With adults and children combined, we had over 1,440 entries. This is a new record number and the event keeps growing in numbers year after year, which is brilliant to see as it really captures the imagination of the participants and the people who come out to support."
He also thanked the large team of volunteers who helped make the event possible.
"Especially all those who give up their time to help volunteer for the event, for whom without these wonderful people these events cannot happen, so a massive thank you to all of them," he said.
Looking ahead to next year, organisers are already planning ways to expand the event further.
Jake added: "Next year we have big plans to expand on the event and with the support of the town we can make this happen, to keep this event growing bigger and bigger.
"It is so great to see the community being actively involved and especially to see the children's Golden Mile growing year on year, to help inspire the next generation of the joys and benefits of social activity."
