Santa to launch Christmas opening weekend at Hitchin Garden Centre
By James Denselow 1st Oct 2026
Santa Claus will cut the ribbon as Hitchin Garden Centre launches its Christmas department with a weekend of festive celebrations on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October.
The opening forms part of British Garden Centres' "Where Magic Begins" Christmas campaign, with seasonal treats, live festive music and a first look at this year's decorations and gifts.
Santa will officially open the department at 9am on Saturday. The first 50 groups through the door will receive a golden ticket entitling them to a free bauble.
Visitors will be able to browse the expanded Fern Christmas and Lighting collection, which is exclusive to British Garden Centres, alongside toys, games, puzzles, homeware and pet gifts. Winter plants and living gifts will also be available in the gardening department.
During the opening weekend, Family Card members will receive a 15 per cent discount across the Christmas range, including artificial trees, lights, wrapping paper and cards.
Bookings are also open for festive dining and Santa experiences during the Christmas season.
Lisa Sibley, Centre Manager at Hitchin Garden Centre, said: "Christmas at British Garden Centres is about so much more than decorations; it's about bringing people together and making the season the best experience for everyone.
"Alongside our expanded Fern Christmas range and a fantastic selection of gifts for all ages, we're proud to host festive events that families can enjoy year after year.
"Whether you're shopping for the perfect present, finding inspiration for your home, or making memories, there's something special for everyone."
Hitchin Garden Centre is part of the family-owned British Garden Centres group, which operates 80 centres across the country.
