Saved! Hitchin's Pizza Express restaurant will remain open.

The company has released a list of the 73 branches it intends to shut for good - and the good news is that the much-loved chain restaurant in our town has escaped closure.

The eatery on the corner of Market Place and Sun Street will remain open indefinitely.

However, in a bid to restructure the company, nationally 1,100 jobs will be shed after Pizza Express launched a company voluntary arrangement in a bid to keep the group afloat.

The company said the coronavirus crisis forced it to make 'some incredibly tough decisions to safeguard Pizza Express for the long term'.

The chain intends to keep 381 of its UK restaurants open.
