Appeal following alleged robbery in Letchworth - 14-year-old boy arrested as investigation continues

A 14 year old boy from Letchworth has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released while the investigation continues.

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses following a robbery in Letchworth.

At around 7pm on Tuesday, (June 21) three young boys sitting on a bench on Norton Common were approached by three older boys.

One of the older boys threatened one of the younger boys and told him to hand over his trainers. The trainers, distinctive Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro "University Blue", were handed over and the older boys left. The trainers have since been recovered and returned to the victim.

Detective Constable Beth Talbot, who is investigating, said: "This was a frightening ordeal for the young boys, but luckily no one was harmed, and we have recovered the lost items.

"I am appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time, or anyone with information, to get in touch. If you live nearby and have a doorbell camera, please check it and get in touch if you spot something that might help our enquiries. Any information you have, no matter how small it might seem, could be vital to our investigation.

"You can get in touch by calling the non-emergency number 101 or email me at [email protected] quoting crime reference 41/49466/22."

You can also report information online at herts.police.uk/report or speak to an operator in their Force Communications Room via their online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
