Six charged in connection with an altercation in Hitchin

Six men have been charged following an incident in Hitchin earlier this month.

Police were called to reports of an altercation outside a block of flats in Walsworth Road, Hitchin at around 12.40pm on Sunday 2 February.

On arrival officers, including firearms officers, located two injured people.

One man, aged in his 30s, suffered suspected stab wounds and was taken to hospital by air ambulance. His injuries proved not to be life-threatening.

Paramedics took a second man aged in his 40s to hospital by road. His injuries were also not life-threatening or life changing.

The following have been charged:

· Koaysar Uddin, aged 28, of Walsworth Road, Hitchin, has been charged with affray, possession of an offensive weapon, S18 GBH wounding with intent and possession of a knife/blade/sharp pointed article in a public place. He has been remanded into custody.

· Saleh Uddin, aged 29, of no fixed abode, has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been remanded into custody.

· Sayful Miah, aged 23, of St John's Road, Hitchin, has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

· Samuel Miah, aged 20, of Walsworth Road, Hitchin, has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

· Chand Ali, aged 44, of Abbotts Road, Letchworth, has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

· Moor Miah, aged 53, of Walsworth Road, Hitchin, has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The men are next due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday 4 March.
