St Patrick’s Day Brings Laughter, Luck and Lovely Treats to Hitchin Care Home
By Eliana Ferraris 17th Mar 2026
Residents at Milford Lodge were treated to a lively St Patrick's Day celebration this week, complete with themed games, sweet treats, and plenty of Irish cheer. The home was awash with green as everyone came together for an afternoon of fun, friendship, and a touch of mischief.
🎉 A Festive Morning of Games
The celebrations kicked off with St Patrick's Day picture bingo, a firm favourite that had residents eagerly scanning their cards for shamrocks, leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold. The room was filled with laughter as friendly competition took hold and several residents proudly claimed their winning moments.
Alongside bingo, residents enjoyed a St Patrick's Day wordsearch, which sparked conversations about Irish sayings, traditions, and memories. The activity proved both relaxing and stimulating, offering a lovely way for residents to engage their minds while sharing stories with one another.
🧁 Cupcakes with a Celtic Twist
No celebration would be complete without something delicious, Activity Organiser Devina Kutowaroo delivered beautifully decorated St Patrick's Day cupcakes. Topped with green frosting, tiny edible shamrocks, rainbows, pitchers of beer & pots of gold. The treats were as delightful to look at as they were to eat. Residents enjoyed them with a cup of tea while chatting about their favourite parts of the day.
💚 Home Manager Lindsey Christoforou said "The event was a wonderful reminder of how themed activities bring residents together, spark joy, and create meaningful shared moments. Whether they were puzzling over the wordsearch, calling out bingo numbers, or simply enjoying a cupcake with a friend, everyone left with smiles—and perhaps a little extra luck."
