Stevenage boss Alex Revell was disappointed at his sides lack of clinical edge as they fell to a narrow 1-0 loss to Bolton at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday.

The result means Boro sit in 21st place, six points above the relegation zone.

Revell was once again encouraged by his teams performance, but frustrated that his team failed to convert one of their 16 shots in the game.

After the game Revell said: "It's disappointing to be honest.

"I don't want to be standing here and saying the same things like after Exeter and Morecambe and Colchester at home but ultimately we've come away from home and created 16 chances.

"We haven't made the keeper work enough but ultimately if you don't take those chances when they come your way."

The Boro boss was full of praise for him centre midfield partnership of Tom Pett and Chris Lines:

"Our two centre midfielders were excellent, I thought they ran the game. Ultimately it comes down to chances and comes down to scoring goals.

"It was a good performance in between the boxes. But in the boxes that's where you gain your points and we weren't good enough in those areas"

Boro were looking to build on an impressive week after taking four points against Tranmere and Morecambe but a Declan John goal in the seventh minute sealed Boro's fate for a first loss in three games.

Revell conceded: "It's always going to be an upfield battle once you give them the goal. It was such a poor goal to concede.

"We wanted to start fast and start front footed but we didn't."

"Being front footed and assertive and dominant from the beginning (is key) and if you're not that and let teams grow in and score a soft goal then it's an uphill battle from there and you can't do that when you come away."

"They scored an early goal which was disappointing and after that I felt there was only going to be one team that was going to get something from the game and that was us."
