Stevenage man arrested after Hertfordshire cannabis factory discovered by police

A 20-year-old man from Stevenage and a 26-year-old man of no fixed abode have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and are currently in police custody while enquiries continue.

The detainments came after a cannabis factory with an estimated £50,000 street value had been discovered this morning (Tuesday 29 November), after officers were tipped off by CCTV operators.

The plants have been seized and will be destroyed.

If you have any information about drugs, please report online at www.herts.police/report or call 101. In an emergency, always call 999.

The CCTV operators from St Albans City and District Council spotted people acting suspiciously by a car in Russell Square just before 3am.

Officers found the car parked at an address in Stapley Road, which had been broken into and contained over 100 cannabis plants, across seven rooms.
