Stunning historic steam train Sir Nigel Gresley passes through Hitchin Railway Station

Families, trainspotters and members of Hitchin Camera Club braved the heavy rain on Saturday at 854am to see the famous Sir Nigel Gresley pass through on its way from Kings Cross to York.

Built in 1937 in Doncaster the LNER Class A4 4-6-2 was withdrawn from service in 1966.

This special outing of the train in its stunning blue livery delighted Hitchin people who braved the terrible weather
