A taxi driver involved in a collision with a horse is still fighting for his life in hospital.

As Nub News reported, the incident happened just after 4am on the westbound carriageway of the A602 in Little Wymondley, when a horse escaped from a nearby field.

Sadly, the horse, belonging to Redcoats Equine Feed Supplies, was put to sleep at the scene.

However, the driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the passenger was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-changing injuries.

A post on the company's Facebook page on the day of the incident said: "We would like to say a massive thank you for all your kind messages.

"Unfortunately our darling Big Willie managed to break through a four-rail wooden fence and get onto the bypass, where he was hit by a car, and had to be destroyed.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the poor driver and his family."

The business added that it would be opening the following day "as life has to go on, despite the heartbreak".
