An acclaimed family-run business in our area has been recognised for the outstanding fundraising they do for a fisherman's charity.

Anglian Country Inns have been awarded the honour of The Fishermen's Mission Hospitality Champion 2023.

The business, which runs Hermitage Rd Bar & Kitchen, as well as the Fox at Willian in our area has been supporting The Fishermen's Mission for a few years.

Howard Nye, Operations Director, ACI, said: "We are humbled and more than delighted to receive this amazing recognition from The Fishermen's Mission, a charity very close to our hearts.

"We know and are in awe of the amazing work The Fishermen's Mission do and the support they give the fishing community when in need."

It is a second prestigious award in a matter of weeks for the renowned business, after Nub News reported that the business won 'Best Premium Food Offer 2024' title at the prestigious 'Publican Awards' recently.

A raft of fundraising events have been held by ACI throughout their stable of bars and restuarants, including mussels' evenings at The Fox at Willian - not to mention further afield including Lobster BBQ Suppers at The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe.

While ACI also raised funds by adding a £1 onto every meal during November and December at The Kings Head, Letheringsett, the Jolly Sailors and The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe, North Norfolk.

Andy Malcolm, Fishermen's Mission Fundraising Manager East of England, hailed ACI, saying: "The Fishermen's Mission were delighted to present their Hospitality Champions Award 2023 to Anglian Country Inns for their outstanding fundraising efforts in support of Eastern region fishermen and their families.

"Funds were raised at their Lobster BBQs and Mussel festivals and by highlighting The Fishermen's Charity Mission's work over the Christmas period, ACI raised well over £2,500 this past year.

"We are very proud of our connections with hospitality establishments and ACIs support means The Fishermen's Mission can continue to make a life changing difference for our fishermen around the East Anglia coastline when in need.

"Thank you, Anglian Country Inns.'
