Two men have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences after a vehicle was stopped by officers in Ickleford.

Officers carried out a proactive stop of a grey Volkswagen Golf in St Katherine's Close just before 7pm on Thursday (11 July).

Suspected class A drugs and an imitation firearm were located during a search of the vehicle.

Two men, aged in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs and carrying an imitation firearm in a public place.

Detective Sergeant Sam Casey, of the North Herts Local Crime Unit, said: "While two men have been arrested in relation to this incident we are continuing to investigate.

"As part of that I'd like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of St Katherine's Close yesterday evening and saw the VW Golf or any suspicious behaviour.

"I can be contacted directly by email via [email protected]."
