Wedding venue near Luton could have licence removed over noise concerns

A wedding venue near Luton could have its licence removed after the parish council raised concerns about noise and disturbance.
The Barn, in Tea Green, has a licence from North Herts Council to stay open until 1.30am at weekends, and to provide alcohol and late-night refreshments until 1am.
But Offley Parish Council have complained about noise lasting until after 1am, fireworks being let off, drones being sighted, and staff and guests parking on the village green and in front of residents' driveways.
Their concerns will be considered by a meeting of North Herts Council's licensing sub-committee on Monday (October 5).
The parish council said that a diary of noise and disturbance levels has been sent to Environmental Health and that two drone sightings have been reported to the police – but neither Environmental Health nor the police have made any representations for the committee to consider.
Further comments by the parish council added: "The venue capacity is set at max 200 guests, albeit there is little or no car park as this has never been completed to allow 69 cars to park on site.
"The staff all park on the road … as do the guests who cannot or will not enter the venue car park.
"Fireworks are being let off within the car park and on the surrounding village green, which is also a parking area, despite signs stating 'no parking on the village green'."
The parish council and the wedding venue will have the opportunity to put their views to the district council's sub-committee next week, before it decides whether to take any action.
The sub-committee can choose to take no action, to change the conditions of the venue's licence, or to suspend or revoke the licence.
