Which streets in Hitchin are getting a "deep clean"

A large-scale "deep cleaning" operation is rolling out across Hitchin and surrounding areas this month, with North Hertfordshire District Council and their new Veolia contractors launching a targeted clean-up campaign to tackle grime, overgrowth, and general wear on key roads and public spaces.
The cleaning blitz will cover a wide network of roads including:
- Stevenage Road, from Oakfield Avenue to the Three Moorhens Roundabout
- Highbury Road, Hollow Lane, Standhill Road, and Bedford Road, up to the houses near Ickleford
- Moormead Hill, including the traffic island and overgrown bushes along the pathless stretch into Hitchin
- Jacks Hill (entire length), and Park Way, including junctions with Charlton Road
- The Tilehouse Roundabout and the surrounding 30-metre verges in all directions (to be cleaned on Sundays)
- Three Moorhens Roundabout (also scheduled for Sunday work)
- London Road, Hitchin Road in Letchworth, and the road to Willian from Letchworth Gate
- All of Tea Green, particularly around The Green and Brick Kiln Lane
- The 40mph sections of the A602/Stevenage Road, especially near the school and junctions before it becomes a dual carriageway
The effort includes power-washing, graffiti removal, hedge trimming, verge clearing, drain flushing, and sweeping of footpaths. Sunday-only work is planned for areas where weekday disruption would be significant, such as the Tilehouse and Three Moorhens roundabouts.
