Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Hitchin.

Shortly after 10pm on Saturday (12 April), a man was reportedly assaulted outside Nationwide and the Rose and Crown pub in Market Place.

Following the incident, a 22-year-old man from Stevenage was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Assistant Investigator Harry Jacob said: "We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and are appealing for any information".

"We believe the area would've been busy due to the time this assault took place. If you saw what happened, or have any further details that may help our investigation, please email me via [email protected]."
