Hitchin Nub News caught up with Gurbir Singh Parmar, known by many as Arnie the "Turbanator", as he prepared to lace up his running shoes for the London Marathon raising funds for Leonard Cheshire Disability

"I start running first time 14 years ago when I was 51 year old. Today I've completed 110 long distance races including last year running the Mumbai marathon, Lisbon marathon and Sydney Marathon".

"This year I'm running my sixth London Marathon this year again for Leonard's Cheshire disabled people charity where I help them as volunteer".

"I am 65 years old and I love long distance running. I'm lucky that friends from Hitchin Running Club support me".

Arnie is a familiar face to many in Hitchin having lived here for 44 years, previously running a shop on Redhill Road.

Know anyone else running the London Marathon from Hitchin? Get in touch and we'll give them a shout out!
