Witness appeal following £200,000 worth of criminal damage in Hitchin

Police have released CCTV footage of a person they are looking to identify following multiple reports of criminal damage to businesses in Hitchin.

It was reported that between 2am and 3am on Sunday 26 October, an object was used to scratch 15 shop fronts on Bancroft, Hermitage Road and Nightingale Road.

The damage caused is estimated to be more than £200,000.

PC William Cox, of the North Herts Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Enquiries into this incident have been ongoing and as part of that I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the person in the footage, I appreciate it is not the clearest, however someone may recognise the person from their clothing and build".
