A new grassroots initiative called Blue Hearts Community has launched in North Herts, offering gentle, visible acts of kindness to support people who find the festive season — and indeed any time of year — difficult.
Founded by local organiser Katie Wilson, Blue Hearts is deliberately simple and flexible. Volunteers leave short, anonymous notes on benches, in cafés (with permission), or other public, well‑lit places. Each message carries a kind sentence or phrase with the intention to say "You are seen. People can Sign it Blue Hearts" to become part of the community and to remind people they are not alone. The project is as big or as small as you want it to be - with the only limit being your imagination, paint stones with caring words, or share supportive posts in neighbourhood groups.
Katie explained: "Blue Hearts isn't about fundraising or formal services. It's about visible reminders of care. Anyone can take part in their own way, whether that's leaving a few cards on a walk or a thoughtful message in a café. Everything is low‑pressure and anonymous, so recipients are never identified or approached."
The initiative is open to anyone who wants to join. If you are interested you can contact me at [email protected] or simply carry out their own acts of kindness and sign them "Blue Hearts." The group hopes to grow into a year‑round presence, turning Blue Hearts into Love Hearts across Hertfordshire and beyond.
Katie added: " I want people to know they are seen, valued, and not alone. Even the smallest gesture can make a difference."
