EFL Trophy: Stevenage 0-1 Wycombe Wanderers

A 69th minute goal from Sam Vokes was enough to seal victory for Matt Bloomfield's visitors on Tuesday evening at the Lamex.

The Chairboys' No9 angled a powerful header past Taye Ashby-Hammond to beat Boro in front of 906 spectators including 96 from Buckinghamshire.

Steve Evans made nine changes following Stevenage's victory over Wigan in League One at the weekend, but despite plenty of full-blooded endeavour from his Boro side, they could not break down an obdurate Wycombe backline.

Wycombe's win means they qualify for the knock-out stages from EFL Trophy Group B with a maximum six points from their two games so far. Stevenage remain on a point in third place.

The Crystal Palace U21 travel to the Lamex in their final group stage fixture on November 14. However, the focus now turns back to League One action when fifth place Stevenage travel to Blackpool this Saturday.
