Paul Tisdale's miserable start to his Stevenage career continued with a 2-0 defeat at League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers on New Years Day.

The home side opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the table to leave the Lamex outfit still hunting for their first win under new boss Tisdale.

The loss made it eight wins without a victory and four without a single goal for beleaguered Boro.

Rovers, who had not played since December 11, eased to victory through second-half strikes from Josh March and Jamille Matt.

To make matters worse top scorer Elliot List departed with a hamstring injury.

The struggling visitors from North Herts should have gone ahead when unmarked Terence Vancooten head straight at Rovers keeper Luke McGee when well-placed.

However, Rovers went 1-0 up after the break when March headed home a Kane Wilson cross on 57 minutes.

Wilson also played a part in the home side's second goal when Matt made no mistake seven minutes later.

Stevenage's next game is on Saturday, January 9 when Walsall are the visitors to the Lamex to face Tisdale's struggling side.
