A former Priory School pupil is continuing to make progress with Premier League club Arsenal.

Hitchin's Alex Kirk, 19, has been appearing for the club's academy sides, including the U21 team which played this week.

Kirk, has also featured regularly for the U23s this term, and was part of boss Kevin Betsy's side that narrowly lost to League One leaders Wigan Athletic in the Papa John's Trophy on Tuesday evening.

The club were the first Premier League academy outfit to reach the quarter-final stage in the competition's history and Kirk continues to impress.

The former Stevenage District Schools' and Knebworth Football Club junior signed his first professional contract with Arsenal this time last year, and has made steady progress ever since.

During his time at the club Kirk has also trained with the Arsenal first team several times.

The Priory School is fast earning a reputation as a conveyor belt for Arsenal, as pupil Kirk joins another ex-student in Jack Wilshire at the club.
