Full time League One: Stevenage 0-0 Bolton Wanderers

It was honours even after Stevenage and Bolton Wanderers played out an absorbing goalless draw in front of a bumper crowd of 6,282 on Good Friday at the Lamex.

Boro boss Steve Evans made eight changes to the side that salvaged a last-gasp leveller in a 2-2 draw at bottom club Carlisle last week.

In a lively start for both sides, Jordan Roberts headed over after two minutes, prior to Ben Thompson firing the wrong side of Trotters' keeper Joel Coleman's left-hand post..

Buoyed by their vociferous traveling support massed in the sold-out away end, Wanderers attacked the North Stand.

Bolton's well-travelled striker Cameron Jerome lifted the ball beyond the onrushing Taye Ashby-Hammond on nine minutes, but the angle was to far too acute for the 37-year-old veteran to steer home. Moments later No17 Nathanael Ogbeta drilled a shot that Boro's keeper gathered.

Boro's left-back Dan Butler unleashed a powerful low drive from outside the box that Coleman pushed past the post.

In an open encounter Bolton defender Will Forrester thudded the Stevenage woodwork from Ogbeta's corner on 22 minutes. Shortly afterwards it was Josh Sheehan's turn to test Ashby-Hammond from a free-kick after the dangerous Ogbeta went down on the edge of the area - but Boro's keeper was up to the task and parried the stinging effort away.

At the other end, it was Kane Smith's turn to fire off a shot that flew over Coleman's bar, as both sides attempted the break the deadlock in this crucial clash. Nesta Guinness-Walker had his shot blocked as half time neared.

There was controversy on 68 minutes when it appeared that Jamie Reid was hauled down in the box, but referee Sam Allison waved away appeals, which included a furious Alex Revell, who was booked for dissent.

Stevenage let Bolton off the hook, when Thompson spurned a glorious opportunity, when a chance presented itself following an error in the Trotters box, but Boro's No24 failed to convert and the match was drawn.
