Stevenage's FA Cup run ended at the third round stage after Swansea emerged victorious from a misty Lamex with a 2-0 victory.

An early first half strike from former Crystal Palace attacker Wayne Routledge put Steve Cooper's side 1-0 ahead before Viktor Gyokeres doubled the lead for the visitors five minutes after the interval.

A late penalty save by the Swans rising young star in goal, Freddie Woodman, from new Boro signing Luke Norris, with nine minutes remaining ended any hopes of a comeback.

Read on to find out which players impressed from both sides

Jamie Cumming: 6 - After his penally heroics in the last round against League One leaders Hull it was the Chelsea loanee's turn to watch his opposite number Freddie Woodman steal the netminders' limelight with his late penalty save

Luther James Wildin: 7 - A class act as ever. Destined to play at a higher level and did not look out of place against the Premier League promotion chasers, albeit against a side that made seven changes from their last outing

Ben Coker: 6 - Solid and reliable

Scott Cuthbert: 6.5 - This warhorse always gives his all and this afternoon was no different

Terence Vancooten: 6.5 - Played in Stevenage's 5-0 victory over the Swans U21 side in the Checkatrade Trophy two years ago. No such result this time of course, but another who can be proud of his battling performance against a team two leagues above

Charlie Carter: 6 - Not as influential as his recent performances but will be better for the experience

Arthur Read: 6 - Committed

Jack Smith: 6 - A busy performance

Tom Pett: 6 - Gave his all which included thundering tackles and full blooded effort as ever

Chris Lines: 6 - The former Bristol Rovers legend looked lively at times on his debut after signing from Northampton Town

Danny Newton: 6.5 - Another who played in that 5-0 victory over the young Swans in 2018. Always lively and never allowed the Swansea backline to settle

Norris: (for Pett ht) - 6

Oteh: (for Lines ht) - 6

Aitcheson: (for Newton) - 6

Vincent: (for Smith) - 6

Swansea City:

Freddie Woodman: 8 - The highly-rated keeper showed his potential with an excellent penalty save and an outstanding stop from a late free-kick. Keep an eye on this lad, he's going places.

Kyle Naughton: 7 - Good on the ball and showed good positioning defensively

Ben Cabango: 7.5 - A calm presence in the backline trio

Cameron Evans: 7 - A senior debut to remember, showed confidence in always wanting the ball. Booked

Jordon Garrick: 6 - First start of the season and while the right-wing back role might not be his position he looked shaky at times. Provided assist for the Swans second gaol to show his talent

George Byers: 7 - Another who making his first appearance of the campaign. Strong in the tackle while always looking to supplement colleagues further forward

Jay Fulton: 5 - Replaced at half time

Ryan Manning: 6 - Never let Boro's backline settle

Yan Dhanda: 6 - Pals with Hitchin Town's Jhai Dhillon and thrived in north Herts providing Routledge's opener

Wayne Routledge: 7.5 - The former Crystal Palace attacker nodded home early on to set the tone for the tie. The 36-year-old has now scored for Swansea in every season for a decade

Viktor Gyokeres: 7 - Scored Swansea's second but conceded Stevenage's penalty. Will be thankful colleague Woodman saved his blushes

Korey Smith (for Fulton at ht) - 6

Liam Cullen (for Routledge) - 6

Jake Bidwell (for Evans) - 5.5

Oli Cooper (for Garrick) - The youngster made his first team debut with moments remaining. We'll give him a well earned seven just for that, not least because he played in Stevenage's 5-0 victory over a young Swans side at the Lamex in the Checkatrade Trophy back in August 2018
