Stevenage beat Cambridge United 1-0 in a hard-fought League Two clash at the Lamex on Tuesday evening.

An emphatic 21st minute strike from Charlie Carter sealed Boro's first league victory since November 24.

Alex Revell's team gave their as they moved off the bottom of the table with a deserved victory.

Cambridge failed to move into the top six as their play-off hopes slumped with a fourth loss in six matches.

On a bitterly cold evening in north Herts Boro attempted to play the ball but were not able to create many chances.

Danny Newton and Jack Aitchison were both denied attempting to add to the score.

In time added on, Terence Vancooten was the hero as his last-gasp block from Harry Darling's shot helped gain a well-earned triumph.
