LEAGUE TWO: Jake Taylor powered Stevenage to a 2-1 win over Crawley Town after an outstanding performance from the Boro midfielder helped seal a welcome victory.

Paul Tisdale's side clinched the win to make it seven points from the last nine, in front of a Lamex attendance of 1,942 (including 210 from Crawley) to boost hopes of League Two survival.

Player of the match Taylor headed in to make it 1-0 on 28 minutes, following a cross from debutant Zain Westbrooke being flicked on by Bruno Andrade.

Crawley equalised on the stroke of half time, with a curler from Tom Nichols that flew over Christy Pym and into the net, to make the score 1-1.

Undeterred, Taylor, Paul Tisdale's former captain at Exeter, kept pressing for a second goal after the interval, firing over the bar on the hour mark.

The impressive Taylor then drove forward to tee up substitute Chris Lines, whose close range effort was saved by Crawley keeper Glenn Morris moments later, as the home side went searching for a winner.

The indestructible Taylor was then on the end of a rumbustuous challenge from the visitors James Tilley, which saw referee Will Finnie book the Crawley No14.

Despite the knock, the irrepressible Taylor created the winner for substitute Luke Norris to fire home from close range on 72 minutes.

Lines' clincher came after another driving run and perceptive ball inside from Taylor, Tisdale's heroic former Grecian as Crawley fell to a first defeat in six games.

It was nothing less than the determined Taylor and his battling teammates deserved, with Stevenage easing to 20th place in League Two, a full eight points of the relegation trapdoor - as Tisdale's renewed side continue to impress.
