Full time: Stevenage 2-2 Carlisle - Jamie Reid's double sends Steve Evans Boro to the top of League One on a sweltering afternoon at Broadhall Way.

A double by Boro striker Jamie Reid powered Stevenage to the top of League One at the Lamex on Saturday afternoon.

In heatwave conditions, Steve Evans humble band of brothers eased to the top of League One by gaining a point against their Cumbrian visitors, to leapfrog Exeter City, who lost at home to Orient, and fallen Premier League giants Bolton Wanderers, who did not play due to call-ups in the international break.

On a blazing hot afternoon in North Herts, Stevenage went ahead as early as the 15th minute when Reid guided the ball into the net past keeper Jokull Andresson to put the home side 1-0 ahead.

Five minutes later Paul Simpson's side were level when No24 Sean Maguire equalised, much to the delight of their travelling fans.

Boro went ahead for a second time in the match, when Reid grabbed his second on 74 minutes. However, battling Carlisle refused to be denied and grabbed a late point when Joe Garner popped up to level in injury time - as Boro went to the top of the table to lead the pack on 14 points.
