FT: Stevenage 3-1 Crawley

A Jordan Roberts strike along with a brace from captain Carl Piergianni was enough to seal victory for Stevenage on Friday evening, writes Owen Rodbard.

Despite Crawley's Dom Telford slotting home a last minute penalty for the visitors, it was nothing more than a consolation for struggling Crawley.

Read on for our Nub News Player Ratings to find out who impressed as Boro moved to within five points of leaders Leyton Orient at the top of League Two.

Stevenage

Ashby-Hammond: 6- Had a quiet evening, couple of tame saves which he'd be expected to stop comfortably,

James-Wildin: 6- Lacked aggression at times, struggled to stop crosses into the box, his ventures forward were rather uneventful, silly tackle for the penalty

Sweeney: 6.5- Put his body on the line for the team, composed on the ball with some good passes under pressure

Vancooten: 7- Calm, composed, defensively astute and distributed the ball out well

Piergianni: 7.5- Great composed headers for both of his goals, his balls down the line could be improved, solid defensively all game

Earley: 6.5- Was caught flat footed on a few occasions which resulted in unneeded fouls, did his best work in the attacking third with some positive runs forward and swung some good crosses into the box. Has had an excellent spell with the club and everyone wishes him well at Plymouth

Gilbey: 6.5- Put some dangerous balls into the box with little reward, protected his backline well

Reeves: 7- Controlled the centre of the pitch with some nippy touches and good balls down the line, positive direct running opened up the midfield to create some good chances

Roberts: 6- Attorned for his previous miss by calmly slotting past the keeper for the first goal, his final pass was lacking at times, but overall influenced the game positively

Rose: 6- Great leap as ever, linked the midfield to the forward line well

Norris: 6.5- Lacked a slight turn of pace, worked very hard but never really got into the right positions
