Stevenage take a break from League Two today when they host Concord Rangers in the first round of the FA Cup at the Lamex this afternoon.

Boro are back at home for the third Saturday in a row, this time against the side from National League South who hail from Canvey Island.

Alex Revell's side will be pleased for a respite from the fourth tier for a weekend, with the north Herts side sitting in 21st place, having picked up two points from five matches.

However, the football Revell's side have been playing this season has generally been far better than their position suggests, even though they notched only their first goal in eight games, during the 3-1 defeat at Colchester on Tuesday.

Speaking exclusively to Nub News, Revell said: "There haven't been many bad performances this year, it's just our goals that have been lacking. We've been creating chances but we're not taking them.

"Yes, it's frustrating but if you're not creating chances that's completely different."

Revell also took time to hail Boro fans who, like supporters up and down the country that follow the professional game, have been denied the opportunity to watch their heroes in the flesh due to the Covid crisis.

With lockdown in place until at least December 2, there does not appear to be much light at the end of the tunnel in terms of fans returning this side of Christmas, or even until the spring.

Revell is conscious of the fact, as he explains: "Yes, it's hard for them. You want them to watch us. Yes, we have iFollow, but sometimes it's hard on iFollow because you're not there in person.

"The fans are our 12th player and we do miss them.

"We're looking forward to the magic of the FA Cup, the first round is always a good weekend and hopefully we'll make chances count."
