Stevenage FC's highly-rated CEO has been snapped up by Cambridge United.
The Abbey Stadium outfit have have appointed Alex Tunbridge as their new chief executive.
Tunbridge will move to the Abbey Stadium in April and is seen as a rising star off the pitch, with his arrival at Cambridge a massive coup for the League One club.
Tunbridge oversaw the appointment of Stevenage boss Paul Tisdale who succeeded Alex Revell as first team boss.
Boro chairman Phil Wallace shared his forthright take on the news. "Off the pitch, Alex Tunbridge our CEO will be leaving us in April to take up a similar position at a League One club," he said.
"Frankly, I was disappointed to receive that news from him whilst in the US as Alex has been pivotal in diligently carrying out the way I wanted the Club to be run, so he will be missed by all of us when he leaves.
"However, I have always believed that change can bring new opportunities and a new way of looking at things, so we will take this opportunity to bring a new CEO into the Club and perhaps a new approach into all aspects of our business, from commercial to the way we engage with our fans.
"We have invited applications for the role and have already received a dozen or so applications from good quality applicants. More on this as we progress."
Tunbridge who started his off-field career at Stevenage before joining Newport County AFC as CEO prior to rejoining the Lamex outfit, will succeed the U's Ian Mather.
Cambridge Chairman Shaun Grady hailed the imminent arrival, saying that Tunbridge's "energy and experience" will help move the club forward.
