A rampant Stevenage thrashed fellow promotion chasers Barrow 5-0 at the Lamex on Friday evening.

Jake Reeves netted an excellent goal to put Boro on the course to a victory that laid a marker to other League Two promotion contenders.

Steve Evans second-placed Boro eased to within two points of leaders Leyton Orient as they overran the fourth-placed Bluebirds to close the gap on the automatic promotion places.

Reeves opened the scoring after 18 minutes to fire past former Boro keeper Paul Farman, whose poor clearance led to Stevenage doubling their lead five minutes after the interval as Jamie Reid lobbed the ball into an empty net from 30 yards.

Dan Sweeney made it 3-0 when he headed in Reeves' corner prior to Luke Norris' spot-kick making it 4-0.

There was still time for Barrow's Tyrell Warren to head another Reeves corner into his own net on 86 minutes as Stevenage started the crucial month of December in fine style.
