Substitute Danny Newton's wonderstrike handed Stevenage three points after beating inform Tranmere 1-0 at Prenton Park on Tuesday.

Alex Revell's side defended resolutely throughout the game before in the 82nd minute, Newton rifled the ball into the top corner only 15 seconds after coming on the pitch.

David Stockdale: 6.5- Some impressive low stops in the opening periods, kept his defence in line

Luther James-Wildin: 7- Brilliant header off the line in the first half, not troubled much defensively but struggled to make headway in attack

Terrence Vancooten: 7.5- Kept prominent goalscorer Vaughan quiet, another impressive performance to add to his collection this season

Luke Prosser: 6.5- Marshalled the back line well and was vocal throughout, solid as ever

Joe Martin: 6- Didn't have a lot of defending to do before being taken off injured in the 35th minute

Elliot List: 6.5- A typically electric performance on the wing, looked to drive at the wing back at every opportunity,

Chris Lines: 7- Classy as ever in the middle of the park, looked to play forward at every opportunity

Tom Pett: 6.5- Some good touches and turns in the middle, scrappy when he needed to be

Jack Aitchinson: 7- Looks like he's found his feet on the wing, up and down the left side with a battling performance

Charlie Carter: 6- Powerful, looked to run in behind, looked bright before suffering an ankle injury

Luke Norris: 6.5- Unusually quiet game for the forward, not much service but when he did get the ball he didn't produce much

Tranmere

Davies: 6 - Commanded his defence well, didn't have much to do until the goal which was an unstoppable strike

Khan: 6.5 - Failed to keep the lovely Aitchinson quiet but was bright in the attacking third

Clarke: 6 - Won almost every aerial duel, composed with his feet, true leader

Monthe: 6 - Kept Norris relatively quiet and marshalled the defence well

Macdonald: 5.5 - Was caused serious problems by the pace and quick feet of List, failed to impose his presence on the game

Spearing: 6.5 - Took the game by the scruff of his neck, aggressive and led by example

Lewis: 5.5- Didn't make much of an impact and failed to impose himself in the middle of the park

Crawford: 6 - Solid in midfield against an imposing Lines and managed the threat of Pett well

Lloyd: 6 - Looked lively and a good outlet to give the ball to with not much reward

Woolery: 5.5 - Worked hard and chased down every loose ball but lacked composure in the final third

Vaughan: 6- Lacked service but when he was in possession he lacked that cutting edge he's had so far this season
