League Two: Tranmere vs Stevenage preview

Stevenage travel to Prenton Park on Tuesday night to face an in-form Tranmere.

Boro will be looking to build on an encouraging draw against Morecambe at the weekend.

Alex Revell's side will be buoyed after their drew 2-2 against promotion-chasing Morecambe at the Lamex on Saturday.

Form

Boro have stuttered of late. After an impressive start to 2021, their form has slowed down. In the last five games, they've won once, drew twice and lost two.

This form sees them sit in 21st position, five points clear of the relegation places with a game in hand.

When the teams last met, Tranmere were sat in 15th place, but five wins in a row has rocketed them to the automatic promotion places in 3rd position.

The team from Merseyside are unbeaten in seven league games and in their last five games have taken maximum points.

Team news

Alex Revell will be hoping that Scott Cuthbert will be back fit for the game after three weeks on the sidelines.

New signings Jack Roles and Jamal Hector-Ingram will be hoping to make the match day squad.

Danger men

Former Premier League strikers David Nugent and James Vaughan head Tranmere's attack and Boro's defence will have to be alert to their threat.

The inform Vaughan has hit 17 goals in all competitions with Kane Woolery converting five and Peter Clarke netting four.

Head to head

The teams have met 11 times in league football. Tranmere have come out on top on three occasions, Boro were the victors twice and the spoils have been shared six times.

Alex Revell previews the clash

"We knew we had to bounce back from the loss, now we have to go to two tough places away.

"If we play like we did second half (against Morecambe) then we'll give both teams a real good game and hopefully positive outcomes.

"All we can do is concentrate on performances and if you play like that second half then more often that not you're going to win games."
