As the sun went down on a late July evening, I was enjoying some relative calm in my Hitchin garden as monumental summer storms apparently bedevilled the rest of the country,writes Sparky.
And in stark contrast to the heroics being demonstrated by the early Olympic competitors on the telly, my chosen activity at this particular moment in time is what these sporting types might refer to as 'ultra-low impact', i.e., sitting in the garden at twilight, nursing a glass of ale, whilst staring at the sky and letting my mind wander where it will.

HITCHIN: Police are hunting a group after hateful homophobic violence saw two teenage girls attacked and robbed in Market Place this weekend.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the hate incident in Hitchin after two teenage girls were targeted in a violent, unprovoked attack in what is believed to be a homophobic hate incident.

The family of a man who died following a road traffic collision on the B656 have paid a warm and loving tribute to him.
A car and a motorcycle were in collision on the B656 London Road, between Langley and Hitchin, just before 2pm on Monday 2 August.

Comedian Richard Herring is taking on the Knebworth Half Marathon in November to raise funds for the NHS.
The stand-up is running for the East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity and to thank the Lister Hospital and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre for treating him for testicular cancer recently.
