Sophie Bichener has raised just shy of an incredible £2,500

A kind-hearted Hitchin woman ran through the pain barrier to raise nearly £2,500 to buy toys for children at Stevenage's Lister Hospital.

Prior to completing her successful fundraiser, sporty Sophie Bichener had practically given up running due to an old injury - but she was determined to complete her charity challenge of running 5k a day to reach her target of 150km.

Hitchin Belles Baku to Bilbao fundraiser for brave Hattie boosted by messages from Russell Kane

A charity fundraising effort by Hitchin Belles FC to help a young girl battling a rare form of cancer has been boosted by a number of well-known faces.

The girls and women's football club in our town came up with a novel plan to help raise money for Hattie Brattan, who is fighting rhabdomyosarcoma, cancer of the soft tissue.

Nurses from Garden House Hospice Care have become amongst the first to administer the Covid vaccine after visiting residents at a Hitchin care home this month.

Tanya Catton and Maddie Kinnar, Frailty Nurses at the Letchworth-based Hospice, administered the first dose of the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine to 48 residents and 30 staff at Elmside Residential and Dementia Care Home in Hitchin.

Joe Wicks has given his backing to a charity fundraising effort by Hitchin Belles FC to help a young girl's courageous struggle against a rare form of cancer.

Fitness coach and author Wicks, also known as The Body Coach, shot to fame during the first lockdown when he launched weekly online exercise sessions back in March 2020 as a way of keeping children fit while schools were shut.
