Read our Nub News PLAYER RATINGS as Stevenage progressed through to the second round of the Carabao Cup after beating Luton 3-0 on penalties at The Lamex on Tuesday night,writes Owen Rodbard.

A frantic first half saw two goals in the opening four minutes with Stevenage conceding the lead twice before taking the tie to penalties.

Joseph Anang made himself a Boro hero as he saved two penalties to send the Boro faithful into raptures.

Stevenage:

Joseph Anang: 6.5 - Commanded his box, confident with his kicks, some nervy moments but overall good performance

Luther James-Wildin: 7- Defended well against the dangerous Mendes, up and down the line all game, some good balls into the box

Terrence Vancooten: 7.5- Assured defending against the experienced Jerome, another eye-catching performance

Scott Cuthbert: 7- Some brilliant recovery tackles and blocks, led his line well

Ben Coker: 6.5 - Some quality balls into the box, had chances to get forward and defended resolutely

Elliot Osborne: 6.5 - Had some bright moments but failed to make a huge impact, was called upon defensively to deal with Mendes Gomes

Jake Taylor: 8 - Calm and collected, controlled the tempo, brilliant in the challenge and looked to build from the back, a real mainstay in the centre of midfield

Jake Reeves: 7.5 - Tenacious, some brilliant balls into the strikers and wingbacks

Charlie Carter: 7.5 - Powerful, drove forward at every opportunity, speedy and didn't give the defenders a second to think

Jamie Reid: 6.5 - Used the channels well, a few maybe moments but no clear-cut chances to score

Elliot List: 7 - Constant menace with his runs down the line, looked to create and bring others into the game

Substitutions:

Luke Norris: 6

Jack Smith: 5.5

Chris Lines: 6

Luton Town:

Shea: 6 - Lost in no mans land for the first goal, unlucky for the second

Kioso: 6.5 - Strong in the challenge, alert to danger

Lockyer: 6 - Commanded the backline well,

Osho: 6 - At fault for the first goal, struggled to track the direct running of the Stevenage frontline

Beckwith: 7 - Promising debut, tackled well, powerful, looked to play forward

Rea: 6 - Some good balls forward but was caught out sometimes in the defensive third

Lansbury: 5.5 - Some brilliant balls forward, struggled against the speedy Carter and tricky Osborne

Muskwe: 6.5 - Good movement to slot the ball in on 40 minutes, powerful and fast, looked bright, one to watch this season

Lee: 5.5 - Failed to make a considerable impact, looked isolated at times

Mendes-Gomes: 6 - Struggled against Luther, didn't contribute much in the final third and looked lazy at times

Jerome: 6 - Great header for his goal, used his experience and know how to push his team forward
