The Lamex hosted a night of drama as Stevenage beat Luton Tow 3-0 penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Alex Revell's heroes beat their near neighbours from the Championship in a spot-kick shootout to reach the Carabao Cup second round.
Stevenage made two changes from Saturdays 1-0 win against Barrow, with Elliot List and Charlie Carter replacing Luke Norris and Chris Lines who dropped to the bench.
Straight from the whistle, a frantic first half ensued. After two minutes, an exquisite Elliot Osborne ball over the top found Elliot List, who rounded the keeper before slotting into an empty net.
From the Luton restart, a free kick on the edge of the Boro box was headed home by debutant Cameron Jerome past the helpless Jospeh Anang.
Chances were few and far between for the 10 minutes after the goal. A Jamie Reid chance followed by a strong appeal for a handball in the Luton box were duly waved away by the referee.
In the 25th minute, Boro edged ahead. A Ben Coker free kick on the edge of the box deflected of a Luton player to send the Stevenage faithful into raptures.
Luton then once again equalised again on 40 minutes through new signing Admiral Muskwe, who got across his man to the front post and slotted past Joseph Anang.
Boro went into half time the happier of the two sides, but manager Alex Revell would've been frustrated by how his team conceded the lead twice.
The second half started at a more mellow pace with no clear chances until the 70th minute.
Elliot Osborne was slotted through on goal before cutting inside and losing possession when he should've converted first time.
Two minutes later the Luton attacker was laid one on one with Anang, before a brilliant Scott Cuthbert recovery sliding challenge saved a certain goal.
Harry Cornick was introduced and quickly got himself into the action but dragged his shot wide with the goal at his mercy.
The game was destined for penalties with both sides content with a draw.
Joseph Anang made himself a Boro hero after saving his first two penalties faced, while Boro converted both theirs.
Substitute Dion Pereira skied his penalty into the upper South stand before Jake Reeves curled his effort into the top corner to cap a brilliant Tuesday night for Alex Revell's men.
The draw for the second round commences at around 10pm on Wednesday evening, where Boro will be hoping to take another higher league scalp.
