With the transfer window getting off to a solid start with the signing of Jake Taylor from Exeter and Arthur Read's loan move turned into a permanent deal, Boro are already looking strong contenders to push for promotion next season, writes Owen Rodbard

Alex Revell will be hoping his side can take their brilliant form from the second half of last campaign into this season, and some new recruits can certainly help build on that.

Here are three players which I think can improve Boro's team, without breaking the bank.

Ryan Haynes (Newport) - Not a wildly talked about player, or someone who will be known to Boro, but after the second leg of the play offs against Forest Green, I can see why this lad has played 37 times last campaign.

What stood out for me was even in added time, he was still prepared to bring the ball forward and even made a lung busting run and delivered a near inch perfect ball into the box.

His tenacious running and his want to win the ball back made him stand out even on the soaked surface of the New Lawn.

Standing at six foot, his height and pace is surely something Revell is looking for after Ben Coker and Joe Martin leaving the club. His contract runs out after the play offs, so would most likely come on a free transfer.

Joe Tomlinson (Eastleigh) - Will surely be sought after player after 11 goals from left back last season.

The 20-year-old who signed from Hungerford at the beginning of the season had a stellar campaign in the National League, winning both Player of The Season and Young Player of The Season for his club.

Despite being naturally left footed, he takes his penalties and set pieces with his right, an ambidextrous attacking left back and at only 20 years old, Boro would have to act quickly to secure the signing.

Erhun Oztumer (Bristol Rovers) - After a poor season at Bristol Rovers, which ended in relegation, the former Walsall man was released.

The Turkish play maker has yet to reach the heights of the 2017-18 season in which he netted 17 times, along with seven assists, in a stellar campaign which largely helped to ensure Walsall's survival that year.

Maybe he stepped up too quickly or was maybe a victim of not fitting into a various managers system.

Oztumer can play centrally and on the wing, bur thrives with the ball at his feet.

An Ilias Chair-like playmaker with his impressive centre of gravity and long-distance shooting capabilities, maybe he needs to come back to League Two to thrive again?

With the possibility of a free transfer, surely, he is worth a look at for any League Two team that need goals.
