Armed police have been called out to an incident in Hitchin this afternoon, Friday.

Five squad cars and a number of officers with weapons are at Walsworth Road at the bottom of Trevor Road, near to Paul's Bikes.

Walsworth Road is currently cordoned off following an incident around 1.30pm.

NUB NEWS UPDATE:

Armed police have been on the streets of Hitchin this afternoon - leading to a man being arrested in connection with an incident in Walsworth Road.

Police were called at 1.11pm today, Friday, January 8, to reports of a man allegedly in possession of a firearm in a garden in Walsworth Road, Hitchin.

Armed officers attended the scene and a road closure was put in place as a precaution while the incident was dealt with.
