Armed police have been on the streets of Hitchin on Friday afternoon - which led to a man being arrested in connection with an incident in the town.

Police were called at 1.11pm today (Friday 8 January) to reports of a man allegedly in possession of a firearm in a garden in Walsworth Road, Hitchin.

Armed officers attended the scene and a road closure was put in place as a precaution while the incident was dealt with.
