BREAKING: A Hitchin road has been cordoned off by police following an incident in the Westmill part of town on Saturday lunchtime.

Westmill Road has been closed by police after a number of officers were called to an address following concerns over the welfare of a person.

A police helicopter is currently circling the area with unconfirmed reports that armed officers were also called to the scene.

An eyewitness shared with Nub News her experience, saying: "There were definitely armed police when I drove past right as they arrived...was scary."

Hitchin Nub News has contacted Herts police for more information.
